New Brunswick Establishments Fight The Economic Downturn With Innovative New Brunswick Rocks Campaign

April 1, 2009

New Brunswick, NJ — With the help of Mary Pomerantz Advertising, a collection of forward-thinking New Brunswick establishments have teamed up to form their own answer to the economic situation confronting businesses around the country. Naming themselves New Brunswick Rocks, the restaurants, bars, entertainment venues, and hotels that comprise this group have banded together to launch a multimedia advertising campaign designed to attract customers to their downtown New Brunswick locations.

Featuring advertisements on digital billboards, area buses, and train station platforms in the region – the New Brunswick Rocks campaign brands New Brunswick as Central New Jersey’s hottest dining and entertainment destination and directs viewers to visit their website at www.NewBrunswickRocks.com.

Once on the site, visitors will be able to view any of the members’ websites; browse a blog submitted by members that contains interesting features such as food and drink recipes, tips on purchasing wine, and fun stories on subjects like how “The Frog and The Peach” got its name; or even register to be entered into weekly drawings for great prizes from New Brunswick Rocks members.

According to Mary Pomerantz Advertising Creative Director Tom Severini, “We wanted to create an online destination that would draw people back on a regular basis. And, for that, you need to keep the content current, fun, and fresh. That’s our goal with www.NewBrunswickRocks.com.”

The campaign also includes a social networking component (with its own Facebook page) and promotional cards for participating members to hand out to their customers. All in all, it is a great example of local businesses proactively banding together to help themselves prosper in difficult economic times. By forming New Brunswick Rocks, these establishments are betting on a brighter future for themselves and us all.

Joe Remmett, Vice President at Mary Pomerantz Advertising summed up the feeling of esprit de corps shared by the New Brunswick Rocks participants when he stated, “What most impressed me was how motivated and passionate these owners were about their individual businesses – and yet how strongly they felt a sense of community as well. It wasn’t about one of them winning all of the time; it was about doing something that would make the whole town win.”
