Suburban Propane - Recruitment Website
Suburban Propane was searching for a way to recruit new employees for its nationwide energy service. As a company that had been in business since 1928, Suburban Propane was looking to grow its employee base to match its business growth. It felt that a separate career website and recruitment branding message was needed to distinguish itself and speak to a distinctly different target audience, namely HR professionals.
Mary Pomerantz Advertising wanted to make it easy for potential applicants to find Suburban Propane jobs. Listing jobs on a careers page within a company’s website is often ineffective at drawing sufficient attention and traffic. Site visitors can easily get lost in navigation menus, and a single career page is unlikely to provide the type of information applicants need. We decided to create a standalone career website using a unique “.jobs” domain. We used Drupal to create this website, as its user accessibility allowed Suburban Propane’s employees to regularly update the recruitment website with new job openings, even if they lacked technical knowledge.
Suburban Propane’s new “.jobs” website instantly expanded its employee recruitment options. The site, Suburbanpropane.jobs, made it easier for job candidates to find available positions and apply for them. Their new career website included information about their near 90 year history, and we added pages about their background, ethics, values and mission statement.
Additionally, the use of Drupal made it so that members of Suburban Propane’s HR staff could easily update new positions.
The decision to use a separate career website for Suburban Propane allowed the organization to build its own recruiting brand and create a more personal connection with potential applicants. It also allowed the company’s HR department to save valuable time and effort in the recruiting, screening and hiring process. Suburbanpropane.jobs immediately helped add to the company’s workforce and ultimately opened a permanent line of communication to future employees. Even better, the content management system was so easy to use that the team at Suburban Propane was able to access and update the site in less than an hour following instruction from our professionals.
